The Telecommunications Sector

The Public Utilities Commission is responsible for the regulation of the telecommunications sector in The Bahamas in accordance with the Public Utilities Commission Act, 1993 and the Public Utilities Commission (Amendment) Act, 1999. As part of this function, the Commission shall grant licences pursuant to section 9 of the Telecommunications Act, 1999, for the provision of telecommunications systems and services. Further information concerning a telecommunications service and a telecommunications system can be viewed in Section 2 of the Telecommunications Act 1999.
