There are 2 types of aeronautical licences that are issued by the Public Utilities Commission (PUC), The fixed ground station licence and the aircraft radio station licence (aircraft base). In each case the aeronautical radio stations must be control by a licenced operator holding a certificate issued by the PUC to which the station is subject. As a result, both the system and the operator must be licenced before the service can be used.
The purpose of these licences are explained below along with the annual licence fees.
- Aeronautical Fixed Ground Station licence: This licence allows a ground station to communicate with an aircraft. The annual fee for this licence is $300. An application form can be viewed or downloaded below.
- Aircraft Radio Station Licence (Aircraft Base): This licence allows an aircraft to communicate with a aeronautical ground station, another aircraft or a airport control tower. The annual fee for this licence is $60. An application form can be viewed or downloaded below
